Sussex’s Brad Currie stunned cricket world on Friday with a spectacular single-handed catch at the rope against Hampshire in the Vitality Blast league.
Currie was playing his first-ever T20 match and his team needed to defend 23 off 10 balls when Hampshire’s Benny Howell swatted the delivery towards the boundary.
The 24-year-old ran to his left, flew in the air and caught the ball mid-air with one hand while also ensuring he stayed clear of the rope.
The catch is being dubbed by several as one of the best in the history of cricket with England captain Ben Stokes and India’s Dinesh Karthik heaping praises on the cricketer, among others.
Sussex eventually clinched a marginal 6-run victory over Hampshire. Brad Currie was also Sussex’s best bowler with 3-27 figures.
