Ruturaj Gaikwad etch his name in history as the Indian batter took the Narendra Modi Stadium B ground by storm on Monday. Gaikwad smashed 7 consecutive sixes in an over in a Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 game against Uttar Pradesh.

Gaikwad is now the first player in limited-overs cricket to score 7 sixes in an over. Uttar Pradesh bowler Shiva Singh was the one who received the wrath as his over included a six on a no-ball as well which helped Gaikwad achieve the feat in the end.

However, the record for the maximum sixes in an over still remains with Lee Germon of New Zealand who hit 8 sixes in Wellington’s Shell Trophy match.

Gaikwad then went on to score 220 runs off 159 balls in his innings which steered Maharashtra to a 330-run total in their quarter-final tie.
