Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and his son Arjun Tendulkar were among the celebrities who voted during the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Monday.

Sachin Tendulkar was seen at a polling booth in Mumbai with his son. The Tendulkar's reside in the posh Bandra West locality in the city.

Sachin Tendulkar, who is also the 'national icon' of the election commission spoke to the media, urged people to cast their vote, stating that it is 'extremely important' for nation-building.

"I am the national icon of the Election Commission of India, I was involved in quite a few initiatives regarding casting of vote, It is extremely important to vote and today as a proud Indian, I feel really happy after casting my vote."

Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second largest after Uttar Pradesh. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases, running from April 19 to June 1. The counting and results will be declared on June 4.
