India had played only 40 ODIs before the 1983 World Cup and had won just 1 match in the previous 2 editions but still Kapil's Devils achieved what not many thought they could, even in their wildest dreams.

On June 25, 39 years ago, members of that Indian team etched their names in the history books by winning the World Cup for the first time, beating the mighty West Indies in the final, who had already won the previous 2 editions.

It wasn't just another world title but a cup that inspired a whole generation of cricketers. Amidst zero expectations, Kapil Dev's men achieved the unthinkable and lifted the trophy in the Lord's balcony, an image that went down in history books as the most iconic moments in Indian cricket.
