Team India has a tradition where the youngest player of the squad usually lifts the trophy, whenever the team wins a tournament or even a bilateral series.
The practice was carried into Asia Cup 2023 as Tilak Varma, who made his ODI debut during the tournament, lifted the trophy after India beat Sri Lanka in the final.
However, Rohit Sharma and Co took it a step further and an unknown person was seen lifting the Asia Cup silverware. Since he wasn't a player or a coach, people were left discussing who was he.
It was later found out that the man was Raghu Raghavendra, a 'throw-down specialist'.
Interestingly, Raghu was India's first throw-down specialist and had even given throw-down training to Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni in the past.
Virat Kohli had also acknowledged the role of India's throw-down specialists and said, 'A lot of credit has to go to these guys, who have given us practice regularly and their contribution has been unbelievable. You guys should remember their names and faces because, behind our success, a lot of effort has been put in by these guys.'
