The former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has sharply responded to former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar's remark on Virat Kohli.
Akhtar while speaking on the show Backstage with Boria had suggested that the former India captain should not play in the ODI format after the World Cup and should only focus on the longest format of the game.
Ganguly registered his strong disagreement and in turn, questioned Akhtar, 'Why should Virat not play?'. Backing the prolific batter, Ganguly went on to say, 'Virat Kohli should play whatever cricket he wants to play because he performs'
After a 3-year-long lull, Virat Kohli returned to form during last year's Asia Cup where he fired his first century in the T20I format. Since then he has smashed 5 centuries.
