After missing out on the Australia tour of India in the beginning of 2023, pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the World Test Championship Final versus India scheduled to begin on June 7.

Cricket Australia announced Hazlewood is still managing a left Achilles issue as well as side soreness that flared up during the recently concluded Indian Premier League.

The fast bowler is likely to be replaced by Scott Boland in the Australian Playing XI meanwhile Michael Neser has joined the official 15-man group in England.

A cautious approach with Hazlewood has been taken by CA with the Ashes in mind, given the other pace options – Cummins, Starc, Boland, Cameron Green and now Neser – are all available for the WTC Final.
