It’s Super Sunday for India! And the medals just keep coming.

India’s Eldhose Paul & Abdulla Aboobacker made history by securing a 1-2 finish in the men’s triple jump event at the Commonwealth Games.

Paul, who breached the 17-metre mark for the first time in his career, couldn’t have chosen a better moment to do so as his jump of 17.03 fetched him Gold. Even in the World Championships Final, Paul’s best jump was 16.79 metres.

Paul’s statemate Abdulla Aboobacker landed the silver with a close second-place finish. Aboobacker recorded a jump of 17.02 metres.

It very well could have been a 1-2-3 for India but Praveen Chithravel missed out on the bronze by just 0.03 metres. He finished fourth behind Bermuda’s Perinchief.

Nevertheless, it was a big moment for the Indian track and field contingent, who last won a medal in the triple jump back in 2014, when Arpinder Singh had bagged the bronze medal in Glasgow.
