Yet another upset in the FIFA World Cup 2022 saw European heavyweights Belgium go down 2-0 to Morocco at the Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar, on Sunday.
Abdelhamid Sabiri & Zakaria Aboukhlal scored for the Moroccans in the 73rd and 92nd minute respectively to take their side to a provisional first spot in Group F with 4 points from their 2 games.
After a positive first 15 minutes from the Red Devils in the game, Morocco looked like the side who were going to break the deadlock in the match and came close in the final minute of the first half when Hakim Ziyech had his goal ruled out for offside.
The Atlas Lions came into the second half with a hunger for goal and finally managed to open the scoring courtesy of a clever free kick by Abdulhamid Sabiri beating Thibaut Courtois at the near post in the 73rd minute. Morocco then went on to close the game in the 92nd minute and have now not conceded a goal in more than 10 hours in international matches.
