Amid the ongoing Indian Women's League 2 in Goa, two women footballers have accused the AIFF executive committee member Deepak Sharma of physical assault, Sportstar reported.
As per the report, the players have alleged that the incident happened in a hotel room on Thursday night. On Friday, the two approached the competitions committee of AIFF and requested immediate action, 'fearing for their lives.'
Quoting the players' complaint, the Sportstar report details the purported incident, 'As the dinner was over, we were boiling eggs as we didn’t get dinner due to this reason. Mr. Deepak Sharma got offended and stormed into our room and slapped me (Palak) and Ritika and assaulted us physically. From the first day, he used to be in an inebriated (drunken) state.'
The two women, Palak Verma and Ritika Thakur, play for Khad FC.
After the incident was made public the next morning, match commissioner Sujesh Rajan as well as the host federation, Goa Football Association were involved in taking swift action.
A preliminary investigation was conducted and its report has been sent to the AIFF while the GFA has also filed a complaint at the Mapusa police station.
