After beating Barcelona in the last 16 of Copa del Rey, Athletic Bilbao knocked Real Madrid out of the competition after winning the quarterfinal 1-0 on Thursday night.
The Spanish league leaders Real Madrid struggled to create chances as they missed the services of injured Karim Benzema.
Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao looked a stronger side for most part of the contest and finally broke the deadlock in the dying minutes of the game.
Athletic striker Alex Berenguer, who came as a substitute, scored a stunning goal in the 89th minute to seal the victory for his team.
After knocking the two powerhouses of Spanish football, Athletic would be eyeing the Copa Del Rey title after 38 years as it last won the trophy in 1984.
