Chelsea has secured the signing of French international defender, Axel Disasi, from Monaco on a six-year contract for £38.5m. The 25-year-old centre-back's addition to the squad comes as defensive cover after Wesley Fofana suffered a serious knee injury. Disasi showcased his consistency by featuring in all 38 of Monaco's Ligue 1 games last season.
Having played four times for France, including an appearance in the 2022 World Cup final defeat against Argentina, Disasi brings international experience to Stamford Bridge. During his time at Monaco, since joining from Stade de Reims in August 2020, he made 129 appearances.
Disasi marks Chelsea's sixth signing of the summer transfer window. Under the management of new coach Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea has also acquired Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo Gabriel, and Diego Moreira, as they continue to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
