Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, has stated that Barcelona will no longer be able to add players during this summer's transfer window.
“In the case of Barcelona, they have to drop spending on wages and transfers from €650m to €450m, so it’s budget of minus €200m," Tebas said.
Despite financial difficulties in 2022, Barcelona signed several top stars like Jules Kounde, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski. In order to fund the expensive expenditure, they pulled a number of economic levers, including their TV rights, yet they still have a big debt.
“Barcelona have to reduce their investment in players and we have encouraged them to sell players because, for every amount they raise in sales, they can spend 40 percent of that, "Tebas further added.
Despite the growing debt, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is defiant and claims that the club does not need to sell its best players this summer.
