Brentford striker Ivan Toney banned from football for 8 months

England and Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been banned from any football related activity for a lengthy 8 months after the 27-year-old was charged with 232 breaches of FA betting regulations in November last year followed by another 30 charges the next month.

Toney has also been fined £50,000 for his actions.

Having earned his senior England debut this season, Toney will only be eligible to play football in 2024.

“Ivan Toney has been suspended from all football and football-related activity with immediate effect for eight months, which runs up to and including 16 January 2024, fined £50,000 and warned as to his future conduct for breaches of The FA’s Betting Rules." the FA statement read.

Toney's suspension starts immediately, but the 27-year-old can return to training with Premier League club Brentford four months before it ends on 17 September.
