Brighton stunned Arsenal as they knocked the Premier League table leaders out of the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 victory. While Eddie Nketiah provided the lead to the Gunners, Danny Welbeck soon equalised it with a penalty. Kaoru Mitoma and Tariq Lamptey struck in the second half to defeat Arsenal in the third-round tie at the Emirates Stadium.

Despite naming a strong XI, Tottenham Hotspur suffered a similar fate as they exited the Carabao Cup in the third round after a 2-0 defeat vs Nottingham Forest. Forest dominated the show all throughout as Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard edged out Antonio Conte's inferior Spurs with goals in the 50th and 57th minute.

Liverpool advanced after a 3-2 win in the penalty shootout against Derby County in the Carabao Cup Third round at Anfield. Both teams failed to get going in the 90 minutes and the game went to a penalty shootout. Liverpool's Caoimhin Kelleher was the penalty shootout hero for Liverpool with 3 saves.

Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez secured goals in the second half to move to the Carabao Cup fourth round after defeating Premier League rivals Chelsea 2-0.

Apart from them, Wolves also registered a 1-0 win against Leeds United in the third round courtesy f Boubacar Traore's goal in the 85th minute; Southhampton and Newcastle also registered victories in penalty shootout against Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace.
