There was chaos in Cambodia on Tuesday as Indonesia defeated Thailand in an ill-tempered football gold medal final at the Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh.
Trouble erupted as time was expiring with Indonesia leading 2-1. The referee blew the whistle for a free kick with just seconds remaining, but Indonesia mistook it for the final whistle and began to celebrate.
Thailand then equalised on the subsequent free kick to send the match into extra time as brawls erupted on the team benches.
Indonesia opened extra time with a goal, which was followed by more brawling and red cards for players and staff as police tried to retstore order.
Thailand were eventually reduced to seven men while ten-man Indonesia added two more goals for a 5-2 final.
