According to a report in the Guardian, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, wants to buy English club Manchester United for £4.5 billion.
The Emir, who already owns Paris Saint-Germain, values United below the Glazer family's asking price of £6 billion. However, under UEFA's current regulations, clubs with the same owners aren't allowed to contest one another in European competitions.
And while the purchase of the Old Trafford club is being explored, it remains to be seen whether Qatar can persuade UEFA to change its rules.
Apart from the Emir, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of Britain's richest men, had earlier confirmed his interest in buying Manchester United.
