Manchester United were comfortable winners in the Europa League on Thursday night, beating Sheriff Tiraspol 3-0 at home to confirm their place in the next round.
United threatened to take the lead all through the first half and it was Diogo Dalot, who opened the scoring right before the half-time whistle. Substitute Marcus Rashford then doubled the lead with a header in the 65th minute.
And Cristiano Ronaldo, who was back in the side after his self-inflicted exile, provided the icing on the cake at Old Trafford with his close-range finish in the 81st minute.
Premier League leaders Arsenal on the other hand were subjected to a 0-2 defeat by PSV Eindhoven, their first of their campaign in Europe this season.
The Dutch side ensured they stay in contention for the top spot with goals from Joey Veerman & Luuk de Jong.
While the Gunners are still first in their group, they need to beat FC Zurich in their final group game next week to ensure a place in the last 16.
