FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 : A dramatic two years for Denmark has made it one of the teams to watch at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. From near-tragedy to pure ecstasy, Denmark have experienced it all in 2021. The football world was thrown into a state of shock when talisman Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch in Denmark's opener against Finland at last summer's Euros.
The Danish playmaker had to be revived on the field after suffering a cardiac arrest. Eriksen survived - thanks to the quick thinking of captain Simon Kjaer and team doctors. All eyes will be on him when Denmark play Tunisia in their World Cup opener on 22 November.
The harrowing incident united the Red and White, who defied the odds and became the Cinderella story of Euro 2020 by reaching the semi-finals. They were eliminated after an extra-time 2-1 loss to England.
And it didn't stop there. Denmark proved it was not a fluke by qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in style. The Danes booked their ticket to Qatar with 9 wins in 10 qualifiers, matching Germany for the best record in World Cup qualification.
A resurgent Denmark have emerged as a dark horse after beating France 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League in September.
Denmark have played 20 games, won 9 and lost 6.
Denmark will be competing in their sixth World Cup and will seek to surpass their best showing - a quarter-final finish in 1998.
The solo Scandinavian representative are in Group D along with reigning champions France, Australia and Tunisia.
