FIFA World cup Qatar 2022 : England football team who begin their FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign on 21st November will enter the competition in Qatar with a lot of expectations.
England's semi-final finish four years ago in Russia went beyond expectations and briefly pulled a divided nation together for a few short weeks. Then, last year at the European Championships, England went one step further, but again fell just short, losing in the final to Italy on penalties.
England’s process has not been so neat and linear and over the last six months it has dropped off a cliff. Players have fallen out of form, results have slumped dramatically, and the feel good factor of the last few years is dissipating at the worst possible time.
England had just lost against Italy to confirm their relegation from League A of the Nations League. The hard statistics screamed another story - six games without a win; England would arrive in Qatar without a victory since March this year.
England have played a total of 69 games in the world Cup out of which they have won 29 and lost 19.
England have won only one World Cup in 1966 that they hosted.
