The Champions Curse has been broken yet again!
Defending champions France are into the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022 as they beat Group D opponents Denmark 2-1 at Stadium 974 in Qatar, on Saturday.
Les Bleus are the first team to progress through to the knockout stages of the quadrennial tournament courtesy of a spectacular match-winning brace by none other than Kylian Mbappe.
The 23-year-old forward helped France take the lead on two occasions in the 61st and 86th minute respectively. Despite Denmark leveling the score right after falling behind through Andreas Christensen's header in the 68th minute, the team fell short of taking anything from the match and are now in a spot of bother in terms of qualifying for the next round.
Kylian Mbappe once again showed the world what he is capable of and the young forward will be a key asset for the French side heading into the latter stages of the tournament. He now has 7 World Cup goals to his name which is the same as Lionel Messi.
France will now go into their final group-stage game against Tunisia looking to cement their top spot in Group D.
