FIFA World Cup 2022: Security guard dies after fall at Lusail Stadium in Qatar

Days after a migrant worker died at a team base, the organisers of the FIFA World Cup confirmed another mishap, where a security guard fell to death at Lusail Stadium. 

Lusail Stadium is set to host the final on Sunday between Argentina and France. 

In a statement, the Supreme Committee of Qatar World Cup said that the security guard was taken to the hospital on Saturday (December 10) and put in intensive care but he succumbed to his injuries three days later on Tuesday.

Since being named as host of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar has come under intense scrutiny over conditions for over 2 million migrants who work in the country across sectors, from construction jobs to service industries.
