Senegal crushed hosts Qatar 3-1 in a strong display in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Group A match, at the Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar on Friday.
Senegal started strongly but wasn't able to break the deadlock until the 41st minute when Boulaye Dia opened the scoring after a defensive error from Qatar gifted Senegal the lead.
Famara Diedhiou doubled the lead soon after halftime and placed his header beyond Qatar's goalkeeper. The hosts though pulled one back in the 78th minute through Mohammed Muntari, as he became Qatar's first-ever World Cup goal scorer, but found themselves trailing by two goals shortly after Bamba Dieng sealed the win for Senegal in the 84th minute.
With this loss Qatar becomes the first host nation to lose two matches in a single group round of an edition of the World Cup.
