Australia went on to register their first win of the FIFA World Cup 2022 with a 1-0 win against Tunisia at the Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar, on Saturday.
The Socceroos took the lead courtesy of a 23rd-minute header by Mitchell Duke. This was the first clean sheet for the Aussies in the FIFA World Cup since 1974.
The Tunisian side went for the win from the very beginning but lacked that clinical edge to break the deadlock in the game despite having 4 shots on target at the end of the encounter. Australia kept their calm after taking the lead and did not rush things in the second half which eventually kept Tunisia at bay to secure their valuable 3 points in the end.
With the defeat, Tunisia have all but closed their path to the knockout stages with 2 losses in as many games.
Australia on the other hand will be looking forward to their final game with Denmark to hope and make it to the next round.
