A high-octane clash between Wales and Iran, in their FIFA World Cup 2022 second Group B match, saw Iran outclass Wales 2-0, at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium on Friday.
The match was heading towards a draw but substitute Rouzbeh Cheshmi and defender Ramin Rezaeian scored in quick succession in the dying moments of stoppage time to bag all three points for Iran and leave Wales winless in this year's World Cup.
Wales were wasteful in their attack in the first half as Iran made lightwork of Wales' crosses and defended in depth.
A game-changing incident in the 85th minute by Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, saw him receive a straight red card for a dangerous foul on Iran's Mehdi Taremi. The red card proved to be decisive as Iran dominated the match in the last few minutes.
This is the first time ever that Wales has conceded more than one goal in a World Cup game.
