In Lionel Messi's hometown Rosario, two gunmen opened fire at a supermarket owned by the footballer's in-laws.
The two assailants, who were riding a motorcycle, also threw a message addressed to Messi at the doors of the supermarket.
"Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is also a drug trafficker, he will not take care of you," read the message written on a piece of cardboard.
While the message was a reference to Rosario's mayor Pablo Javkin, it is still unclear why assailants would target Messi or the Unico supermarket that is owned by the family of his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo.
