Lionel Messi is reportedly all set to play in major league soccer (MLS). According to The Times, the Argentine striker will sign a deal with Inter Miami after FIFA World Cup 2022.
If things go as planned, Messi will become the highest-paid player in MLS history. Messi will be free to sign with a new club once his contract expires with his current club, Paris Saint-Germain. However, he can extend the contract for another season.
“It would be fantastic to have someone like him in our championship, someone of his stature who can offer a global platform to talk about MLS, even beyond the borders of our countries," MLS commissioner Don Garber told 90min.com.
