Laurent Blanc will take over as the head coach of French professional football club Lyon on a two-year contract following the sacking of Peter Bosz on Sunday.

Blanc, a World Cup-winner as a player with France in 1998, has been out of coaching since February this year, when he parted ways with Qatari club Al Rayyan.

The 56-year-old won four French Ligue-1 and two Coupe de France titles during his managerial spells with Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux.

Bosz was sacked following a run of one draw and four defeats in Lyon's last five Ligue-1 games, which has left the club sitting ninth in the standings.
