'Messi is the best that's ever played' said Erling Haaland on Tuesday, as he was asked if the eight-time Ballon D'or champion would have to retire so that he can claim the prestigious trophy.

Haaland currently has netted 80 goals in 84 appearances since joining in the summer of 2022, since then he has also won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Super Cup.

The 23-year-old admitted he is "really happy" at the club but also added "you never know what the future brings." - he is contracted to 2027 but refused to comment on whether he might sign a new deal.

City host FC Copenhagen in the second-leg of their last 16 tie in the Champions League, the defending champions hold a 3-1 advantage after they beat the side in Denmark three weeks ago.

The match begins an important week for City, who travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday in a clash that could help to decide the destination of this year’s Premier League title.
