According to football finance expert Kieran Maguire, manager Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City if the club were found guilty of breaking the English Premier League's financial fair play rules.

Following a four-year investigation, City were charged on Monday with over 100 breaches of the league's financial rules between 2009 and 2018.

Kieran Maguire - a senior teacher in accountancy at Liverpool University - thinks Guardiola would end his seven-year tenure at Etihad Stadium "within 24 hours" if the club are found guilty.

Maguire is also of the opinion that some of City's Premier League rivals would be in a favour of a points deduction, which would harm the club's Premier League title hopes and could jeopardise their place in future Champions League seasons.
