Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United's season continued to go from bad to worse as they went down 2-1 to Nottingham Forest, a side ranked 8 places below them on the Premier League table.

Nicolas Dominguez put Forest ahead in the 64th minute before Marcus Rashford equalised 14 minutes later.

However, Morgan Gibbs's 82nd-minute winner, which was his 2nd League goal this season, helped Nottingham Forest record their first Premier League victory over Manchester United in 29 years.

It was United's 14th defeat of a forgettable campaign, their highest number of losses before the end of a year since 1930-31.

Erik ten Hag's side has managed to win just 2 of its last 7 League games and have been beaten four times in December alone.

Manchester City vs Sheffield United

Manchester City kept their hopes of overtaking Liverpool as League leaders alive as they eased past Sheffield United 2-0 on Saturday night. They climbed to the 3rd spot with 40 points, just 2 behind the Reds.

Rodri put the defending champions ahead in just the 14th minute before Julian Alvarez sealed a win in the 2nd half.

While the Citizens haven't lost any of their last 7 games in all competitions, Sheffield remained at the bottom of the table without an away win this season.

Chelsea vs Luton Town

Cole Palmer gave Chelsea fans something to rejoice before the new year as his brace helped the Blues beat a spirited Luton Town 3-2 at Kenilworth Road.

The England forward put Chelsea ahead in just the 12th minute before Noni Madueke doubled the lead in the first half itself.

Palmer then made it 3-0 in the 70th minute and it seemed like the game was sealed. However, Luton pulled 2 goals back in the dying minutes but failed to secure a point. They are still in the relegation zone.

As for Chelsea, it was their 2nd victory in 4 days. They have now won back-to-back games in the league for the first time since October.
