Liverpool might not have played their best football on the first night of the new year but Jurgen Klopp's men still managed to beat Newcastle United 4-2 to consolidate their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
An action packed second half saw Mohamed Salah score 2 goals to become the 5th player in the League's history to score 150 goals for a single club.
Despite Newcastle also scoring twice, a goal each by Curtis Jones and Gakpo helped Liverpool avoide their 3rd consecutive draw at the Anfield.
Victory also meant that the Reds are unbeaten in 22 games at home, and have now only lost one of their past 52 games in the Premier League at this ground.
Liverpool now has 45 points from 20 games, 3 clear of second-placed Aston Villa, who have also played the same number of games.
