Fireworks, Music and a star-studded night!

These were the scenes as the FIFA World Cup 2022 got underway with the opening ceremony at the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar on Sunday.

World-famous artists like Morgan Freeman and K-pop boy band BTS star Jeon Jungkook enthralled around 60,000 fans with their performances as Qatar kick off the Middle East's first FIFA World Cup this year.

After beginning with an introduction from the legendary Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman and a dance performance representing the Arab region, the fans witnessed BTS star JungKook perform his official song of the World Cup, 'Dreamers' which received a huge roar from the fans in the stadium.

The ceremony concluded with a Qatari official greeting and welcoming the fans from all around the world to the quadrennial tournament in his speech.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is now officially open.
