2018 runners-up Croatia pulled off a shock victory over favourites Brazil, winning 4-2 on penalties at the Education City Stadium in Qatar, on Friday.
The Kockasti were on the verge of getting knocked out of the World Cup when Brazil's Neymar Jr. broke the deadlock in the first half of extra time, finishing off a brilliant team goal. Neymar also equalled Pele's all-time goal-scoring record for Brazil with his 77th goal for the Selecao.
However, Luka Modric's side didn't lose hope and managed to score an equaliser in the dying minutes of extra time as Bruno Petkovic's strike found the left bottom corner to take the game to penalties.
It was Dominik Livakovic who proved to be the hero once again as the Croatian goalkeeper stepped up one more time and saved a penalty for Croatia to take them to their 3rd World Cup semi-final, sending the 5-time Champions out in the quarter-finals for the second consecutive time.
It was Selecao's first loss in a penalty shootout since 1986, a moment that left each and every one of them in tears.
