A massive blaze engulfed the side of a football ground at the iconic Johan Cruijff arena in Amsterdam on Sunday in a game between local rivals Ajax and Feyenoord. According to reports, the fans who traditionally light up flares during the game set alight banners which were put up right next to the goal post.

The feisty rivalry which is over a hundred years old then saw a delay in the start of the game as fire tenders rushed in to douse the blaze. Luckily no one was hurt but the smoke engulfed the entire stadium.
Flares have been banned on football grounds in many parts of the world but certain arenas still allow fireworks to be brought in which leads to beautiful yet extremely dangerous scenes.
