Afghanistan on Monday qualified for the Champions Trophy for the first time in their cricketing history and will take part in the 2025 edition in Pakistan.

Bangladesh beating Sri Lanka in their ICC Cricket World Cup match confirmed that the Afghans will finish in top 8 of the tournament, no matter what happenes in their last 2 games.

Teams that finished in the top 7 in the league phase would have qualified for the 8-team event alongside hosts Pakistan.

Since the Men in Green will finish in the top 7, the 8th team will also qualify for the the tournament, which is also referred to as a mini World Cup.
