A nightmare of a World Cup is not the only alarm England face but following its humiliating defeat against Team India, they are now at risk of missing out on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled in Pakistan.

The Three Lions are languishing at the bottom of the points table after losing 5 of their first 6 games in this year's World Cup. Teams that finish in the top 7 in the league phase will qualify for the 8-team event alongside hosts Pakistan.

If the Men in Green finish in the top 7, the 8th team will qualify for the the tournament, which is also referred to as a mini World Cup.

England captain Buttler said that he was aware of the situation but they still got 'lots to play for,' he said during the post-match presentation. His men face Australia, the Netherlands and Pakistan in their remaining 3 fixtures.

Not just the defending champions but Bangladesh are also sailing in the same boat as they are currently placed at the 9th spot.
