Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli might have their differences when they are on the opposite sides but Gauti never misses a chance to praise Virat whenever he performs well.
After Kohli smashed a record-equalling 49th ODI hundred in the ICC Cricket World Cup game against South Africa, Gambhir while talking to Star Sports said, 'Rohit Sharma got the easiest conditions to bat but Virat and Shreyas literally batted on a different planet.'
'This was not the Wankhede or Delhi where the conditions are easy throughout the innings. Here it was easy at the start and became difficult in the middle and at the end. So I believe both should be praised more than Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill,' he added.
Rohit and Gill took India off to a flying start with a 62-run opening stand within 6 overs. However, both fell in quick succession as spin took over, Virat and Iyer steaded the innings. While Virat smashed an unbeaten 101, Iyer scored a gritty 77.
