In a spectacular display of power-packed cricket, South Africa catapulted to the second position on the points table with an emphatic 149-run victory over Bangladesh in Mumbai. The Proteas now trail only the formidable hosts, India, who remain unbeaten in the tournament. Notably, South Africa also boasts a significantly superior run rate compared to the table-topping Indians.

Starting the day in the third spot, South Africa found themselves tied on points with New Zealand. However, they moved ahead of the Kiwis due to a superior net run rate. Their path to this crucial victory began with a colossal total of 382 runs on the scoreboard. Impressively, this marked their seventh consecutive instance of surpassing the 300-run milestone when batting first in ODIs.

In stark contrast, Bangladesh endured yet another defeat, marking their fourth setback in the tournament. The comprehensive margin of loss, a staggering 149 runs, pushed them to the bottom of the points table, with England gaining from their downfall to move up to 9th.

South Africa's next challenge is a critical showdown against Pakistan, set for Friday, while Bangladesh's upcoming assignment pits them against the Netherlands on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Australia locks horns with the Netherlands. A victory for the Australians will enable them to open up a two-point lead over Pakistan and Afghanistan, positioning them firmly in the fourth spot.
