In a bizarre episode during India's training session on the eve of their top-of-the-table clash against New Zealand in Dharamsala, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was stung by a bee on the back of his head.
The southpaw was in the nets, but he quickly left the practice area. Support staff attempted to alleviate the pain using a traditional remedy that involves rubbing a piece of iron on the affected area.
The training session was marred by additional concerns. Suryakumar Yadav, expected to replace the injured Hardik Pandya in the lineup, sustained a blow to the wrist. There were also reports that Virat Kohli was struck on the thigh during practice.
While these three incidents undoubtedly raised concerns among Indian fans, they remain hopeful that the injuries are not severe. Having already lost a key player in Hardik Pandya to injury for this vital clash, India can't afford any more injuries.
