Sri Lankan star Kusal Mendis, who smashed a brilliant hundred against Pakistan on Tuesday, was taken to the hospital after his knock of 122 in Hyderabad. Mendis complained of severe cramps upon his return to the dressing room and was then taken to the hospital from the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Sri Lanka cricket confirmed the news through a social media post on platform X.
"Kusal Mendis was taken to the hospital after the player suffered cramps upon returning from the field after his brilliant knock of 122 runs from 77 balls in the ongoing game vs. Pakistan. Dushan Hemantha is on the field for Mendis, while Sadeera Samarawickrama has taken over the wicketkeeping duties in the absence of Mendis," read the post on X.
Riding on tons from Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama, Sri Lanka posted a massive total of 344 against Babar Azam's men.
