Australia's ODI World Cup 2023 campaign hit another hurdle on Thursday as Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the game against England, scheduled to be played on Saturday.
Cricket Australia confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the star all-rounder flew back home due to personal reasons. 'A timeline on his return to the squad is to be confirmed. No further detail will be offered at this time,' the statement added.
This came after Glenn Maxwell was also ruled out of the Australia vs England match after suffering a concussion during a golf day on Monday.
Thankfully, Marcus Stoinis has recovered from a minor calf problem and is likely to be fit to come into the playing XI. He missed the last two matches.
As things stand, the Aussies are down to 13 fit men, with Sean Abbott and Alex Carey the only other players available in the squad.
