Sri Lanka's injury woes seem neverending as an in-form Lahiru Kumara was on Sunday ruled out of the rest of ODI World Cup 2023.

Kumara picked up an injury in his left thigh during training in Pune ahead of Sri Lanka's crucial clash against Afghanistan on Monday. Sri Lanka Cricket has named Dushmantha Chameera as his replacement.

The 26-year-old played a crucial role in Sri Lanka beating defending champions England on Thursday. He picked up the wickets of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone in that match.

Chameera on the other hand is a seasoned campaigner. He has picked up 50 wickets in 44 ODIs for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka had previously lost skipper Dasun Shanaka and Matheesha Pathirana to injuries.
