Sachin Tendulkar: Indian cricket icon named 'Global Ambassador' for ICC ODI World Cup 2023

Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has been appointed as the 'Global Ambassador' for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which will kick off in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

With an illustrious history of participating in six 50-over World Cups, Tendulkar will grace the event by presenting the World Cup trophy before the inaugural clash between England and New Zealand, thereby officially declaring the tournament open.

Reflecting on his longstanding association with World Cups, Tendulkar shared, "From being a ball boy in 1987 to representing the country in six editions, World Cups have always held a special place in my heart. Winning the World Cup in 2011 is the proudest moment of my cricketing journey.”

Expressing excitement for the tournament and its potential to inspire young athletes, Tendulkar emphasized how events like the World Cup can fuel dreams in young minds, encouraging them to embrace sports and represent their nations at the highest level.

The 2023 Cricket World Cup, slated to be the largest ever, will feature an impressive array of ICC ambassadors, including cricket legends like Vivian Richards, AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan, Aaron Finch, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ross Taylor, Suresh Raina, Mithali Raj, and Mohammad Hafeez.
