The Sri Lanka Cricket Board was on Tuesday restored after Sri Lanka’s Court of Appeal intervened and overturned Sports Minister Roshan Ranasingha's decision to establish an interim committee.
'The restoring of the board is for two weeks when the court will hear the case again,' a court official said. The court accepted a petition by board president Shammi Silva challenging Ranasingha's move.
On Monday, the Sports Minister sacked the entire cricket board after the cricket team's humiliating performance at the ICC Cricket World Cup. He had even appointed 1996 World Cup-winning skipper Arjuna Ranatunga as chairman of a new interim board.
Ranasinghe was at loggerheads with Sri Lanka Cricket for a few months over allegations of widespread corruption.
