Australia dominated India on Day 1 of the 4th and final Test and ended at a comfortable score of 255/4.
Unlike the previous 3 Tests, the pitch in Ahmedabad proved to be a batting paradise and Australia quickly opted to bat first.
After a quick 61-run opening stand, India bounced back with 2 quick wickets but Usman Khwaja and Steve Smith dropped anchor.
The Aussie skipper fell after 135-ball-38 and Peter Handscomb dismissed for 17 reduced the visitors to 170/4.
But the fightback was shortlived as the new ball didn't work out well for India. Cameron Green counter attacked with an unbeaten 49 while Khawaja carried on to smash his 14th Test hundred and first in India. The duo has so far stitched together an 85-run stand.
India lead the 4-match series 2-1 but still need to win the Test in order to qualify for the World Test Championship final.
