Heavy showers in Hamilton hampered the 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand which was eventually called off after India played 12.5 overs.
While the toss was delayed by 15 minutes, the game started at the scheduled time. However, India who were sent in to bat first could only bat for the first 4.5 over before rain pelted down. Dhawan and Shubhman Gill came out to bat after over an hour's break and the match was reduced to 29.5 overs per side.
Only 8 overs passed through and the rain interrupted again. With no signs of resumption, the match was abandoned with India scoring 89/1 in 12.5 overs.
Kane Williamson's team maintained their 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series and both sides were awarded 5 Super League points each.
