Team India survived a massive scare in the first ODI as they managed to win a thriller in Hyderabad by 12 runs.
Michael Bracewell almost pulled off an incredible run-chase for the visitors but his sensational 140 wasn’t enough as the Kiwis were bowled out for 337.
In fact, NZ were down and out for the most part of the innings. They were 131/6 before Bracewell & Mitchell Santner combined for a brilliant 162-run stand to breathe life back into the game.
Mohd Siraj though broke the partnership to give India the edge, but Bracewell kept chipping away at the other end.
In the final over, with 13 needed off the last 5 balls, Shardul Thakur managed to trap Bracewell plumb in front to give India a 1-0 lead.
Earlier, riding on a breathtaking 208 from Shubman Gill, India had posted 349 on the board.
