Paying the price for a horrendous start to their IPL 2023 campaign, Delhi Capitals became the first team to be eliminated from the playoff race after their 31-run defeat at the hands of the Punjab Kings.
Despite a brilliant start to their run-chase of 168, Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar spun a web to bamboozle the Capitals' batters.
Skipper David Warner's half-century was in vain as Delhi went from 69/0 to 88/6 in the space of less than 4 overs.
While Brar finished with a 4-wicket haul, Chahar produced excellent figures of 2 for 16 in his 4 overs.
Earlier in the evening, Punjab’s Prabhsimran Singh produced a magnificent hundred on a difficult track to take Punjab to a competitive 167.
The victory means Punjab keep their playoff hopes alive; they are currently 6th in the table with 12 points.
