The Lucknow Super Giants had never lost a game after scoring over 160 in the IPL and that record stayed intact. LSG successfully defended 163/5 against the Gujarat Titans on Sunday and beat them by 33 runs to make it a hat-trick of wins this season.
KL Rahul's decision to bat first seemed to have backfired when LSG settled for 163/5.
Marcus Stoinis top-scored with a 43-ball-58. Nicholas Pooran once again scored an unbeaten 32 off just 22 balls on a tricky wicket and Ayush Badoni smashed a fiery 20.
GT got off to a good start and scored 54 runs in the powerplay overs itself. But then the match turned on its head.
Krunal Pandya took 3 wickets before Yash Thakur rose to the occasion in the absence of Mayank Yadav and broke GT's back with the first 5-wicket-haul of this season.
Gujarat was bowled out for a mere 130 and suffered their first-ever loss against LSG in IPL history.
